Our commitment to sustainability

We believe that exceptional hospitality and environmental responsibility go hand in hand. From the water beneath our feet to the energy that warms your room, we've made considered choices throughout our hotel to reduce our impact — without compromising on the quality of your stay.

Energy & Water:

• Borehole Water Supply: Every drop of water used across the hotel is drawn from our own on-site borehole. This natural underground source means we operate entirely independently of mains supply, reducing strain on local infrastructure.

Biomass Energy System: Our hotel is heated by a biomass wood pellet system — a low-carbon alternative to fossil fuels. A water calorifier supplements our hot water supply, ensuring guests enjoy reliable warmth with a significantly reduced carbon footprint. In partnership with Balcas.

Lighting & Smart Systems:

• Full LED lighting rollout: We have completed a comprehensive review of all lighting throughout the hotel, progressively transitioning to LED throughout. LED technology uses a fraction of the energy of traditional bulbs and lasts significantly longer.

• PIR Motion-Sensor Lighting: Where practicable, PIR (passive infrared) motion sensors have been installed across the hotel so that lights are only active when spaces are in use — a simple but effective way to avoid unnecessary energy consumption.

Waste & Recycling:

• Full Waste Segregation: All waste generated across the hotel is carefully segregated and recycled wherever possible. Mixed recyclables, glass, and food waste are all handled by our dedicated waste partner to ensure the right materials reach the right streams. Managed by Riverridge.

Waste Cooking Oil Recycling: Used cooking oil from our kitchen is collected periodically and repurposed as biomass energy — giving it a productive second life rather than sending it to waste. A small but meaningful part of our circular approach. Collected by Pure Oil.

• Refillable Gin Pouches: Our bar has partnered with The Copeland Distillery to introduce refillable gin pouches, reducing the number of glass bottles in unnecessary circulation. Supporting a local Northern Irish distillery while lowering our packaging footprint. Supplied by The Copeland Distillery.

Guest Experience:

• In-Room Sustainability Prompts: Sustainability signage throughout our guest accommodation gently encourages towel reuse, mindful energy use, and reduced chemical consumption. Small actions that, taken together, make a meaningful difference.

• Sustainably sourced in-room water: The water in every guest bedroom is Yeats Water — sustainably packaged and responsibly sourced, so you can refresh with confidence that your choice aligns with ours. Supplied by Yeats Water.

Getting Here:

• Complimentary on-site parking for 300 vehicles: We're pleased to offer complimentary on-site parking for up to 300 vehicles — accommodating families, coach parties, and visitors of all kinds. Having generous dedicated parking means guests and visitors can travel directly to us, reducing unnecessary taxi journeys, avoiding traffic circling the area, and making it practical for coach groups to travel together rather than arriving by multiple cars. We welcome your feedback on how we can continue to improve accessibility and sustainability in how you reach us.

We hope you enjoy your stay at La Mon Hotel & Country Club with peace of mind that sustainability is at the forefront of everything that we do.
